Biography

Pamela Piersyn
Pamela Piersyn, born August 13 in Charleston, South Carolina, has been referred to as a "rare breed." A melting pot of musical talent--a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Pamela turns up the heat on stage juggling vocals, keyboards, guitar, saxophone, clarinet and harmonica. It has been said, "If she gets her hands on it, she will play it." Coming from a family of very talented singers and musicians, Pamela Piersyn’s home was, and still is, filled with music. Her passion for music began with private piano lessons at the age of five. She was hooked after her very first lesson taught by her mother. She went on to study at several top private piano studios. Pamela learned everything from classical to blues to pop to hymn improvisation and theory which helped develop a very skilled, well-rounded pianist. Pamela won competitions at national levels playing piano and singing. After graduating high school with top honors, she entered the University of South Carolina as a music major and established her very own successful private music studio teaching piano to an average of 50 students weekly. She became one of the most sought after music teachers in the area which led to teaching positions at two of the largest private schools in Sumter, South Carolina. In addition, Pamela was certified as a teacher for the international music education program, Music for Young Children, teaching group piano at her studio to preschool children three to five years old. She played clarinet with the local orchestra and served as a pianist and soloist for many churches. Pamela toured regionally with a family Gospel group, Edification, which also performed regularly on Christian television broadcasts. In 2004, Pamela moved to Nashville, Tennessee and established herself in the community as a performer, songwriter, recording artist, and private music teacher. She sang country music in and around town at many venues including the historical Tootsie's and the Opryland Hotel and landed a weekly gig performing jazz standards for the Capitol Grille at the Hermitage Hotel. She began playing writers' rounds and writing with Nashville songwriters. In March 2007, Pamela was announced the winner of the 2007 Tunesmith Songwriting Competition. After seeing one of her captivating performances, J. Geoffrey Jones, columnist for the Rutherford Reader, wrote, "It is rare to see a performer who has the entire package. And in this case, with extra trimmings. An effective and well tuned voice, good timing, stage presence, the ability to perform diverse content and style, and instrumental expertise. All this in one attractive and dynamic woman. I see nothing but the greatest of success for her." With over 25 years experience teaching piano, clarinet, and saxophone, Pamela developed a unique, fun-filled educational music program of the highest quality designed specifically for preschool ages three to five years old called “KIDS & MUSIC”. “KIDS & MUSIC” is a keyboard-based program taught at corporate daycares, preschools, childcare centers, and in-home daycares. Group classes are also taught at Pamela’s Music Studio. Throughout the years, Pamela has written many piano solos that are now available in sheet music. These educational, inspirational solos exude strong emotion, essential music elements, and display a rich palette of musical colors, moods, and imagery. They are very motivational and popular with teachers, students, and pianists. Whether she wields her magic with a tender ballad or a turbo-charged song, her writing versatility and captivating showmanship as a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist is bound to leave you awe-struck.
